“Your mum
and I always used to wish that Tom and you would wind up together” Debbie
laughed lightly as Tom walked into the room. “You did?” He asked.
“Yeah. You
were inseparable when you were younger, we knew that you would be friends for
ages but we always said we would love for you to get together. Your mum was so
protective of who you dated, wasn’t she Tee? She told me that she would always
be protective unless you got together with Tom because she knew that he was a
lovely boy and would make a lovely husband” Debbie smiled before a tear
appeared in her eye. “Oh mum, please don’t cry” Tom whispered, walking over to
her and hugging her. “It’s fine. Can you go tell the others that dinner will be
ready in 5 minutes please Tom?” Debbie asked.
“Sure” Tom
replied before he turned to me. “Can I have a quick word with you out in the
garden please Treasure?” Tom asked.
“Yeah okay”
I smiled, getting up and following him out and through to the living room.
“Dad,
Carrie, mum asked me to tell you that dinner will be ready in 5” Tom said.
“Thanks”
Carrie said before she got up and left the room.
“What would
you two like to drink? I’ll go sort it out” Bob said as he got to his feet.
“Do you have
any red?” Tom asked.
“I’m sure we
do” Bob replied.
“A glass
each then please dad” Tom smiled.
“Coming up”
Bob said before he left the room. Tom smiled at me before he walked out into
the garden, followed by me. “What was before about?” Tom asked, turning around
to face me.
“When?” I
asked.
“Before, out
here. Why did you kiss me?” Tom asked.
“I want to
try...” I whispered.
“Are you
sure?” Tom asked as he reached over and took hold of one of my hands.
“Yes. And
what your mum said makes me want to try even more. Knowing that I would be
making my mum happy by going out with you makes me smile so much” I grinned.
“But would you be happy if you went out with me?”
Tom asked.
“You know
what?” I said as I reached out for Tom’s other hand. “I believe I would” I
smiled.
“Let’s not
tell the parents just yet though” Tom laughed but he enveloped me in a hug.
“Yeah let’s
leave it for a while” I smiled against him.
“Sorry, we
were just talking about stuff” Tom said as we walked into the kitchen and
everyone was already sat down. Tom and I took our places next to each other and
smiled. “That’s fine, we literally only just sat down” Debbie laughed.
“Sweetie,
this isn’t heaven. But thank you” Debbie smiled.
“Right,
let’s eat” Bob grinned. Carrie, Tom and I all giggled before we all started
eating.
“Wow, tastes
just like I remember” I giggled after my first bite.
“And what’s
that?” Tom asked.
“Heaven” I
giggled. Debbie laughed.
